Ubisoft to Discontinue Online Services for Ten Games, Including Assassin’s Creed – January 25, 2024

As of January 25 next year, Ubisoft will stop supporting the online services of ten games, especially Assassin’s Creed games. Ceasing support means that multiplayer, for example, becomes impossible.

Of publisher and developer emphasized that these are older games for which online support will be discontinued and says that this step is necessary because the technology behind the online services is becoming outdated. Ending support will disable multiplayer, disable Ubisoft accounts in-game, unlock Ubisoft Connect rewards, and disable other online features.

It is striking that the online services of various games, like Assassin’s Creed II, on other platforms have previously been discontinued. For example, PC and PlayStation 3 online support for Assassin’s Creed II and Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood ended last October, while Xbox 360 and Mac support respectively will end next year. Ubisoft says that the decision to take services offline takes into account the number of players who still play the games. The games can continue to be played offline, Ubisoft emphasizes.
