Ubisoft starts selling games through Steam again

Since 2019, game titles from publisher Ubisoft have been kept away from the Steam platform. Something that has now changed when the publisher suddenly makes three game titles including Assassin’s Creed Valhalla available again.

For some reason, Ubisoft decided to stop launching its game titles on Valve’s Steam platform about three years ago. Since then, the publisher’s most recent titles have been exclusive to the Epic Game Store. No exact reason for this move has ever been made public. However, through the dispute between Epic Games and Apple, we have received confirmation that the first party paid the publishers large sums of money to gain exclusive access to the game titles.

Now, however, Ubisoft titles have started appearing on Steam again. The former is a trio of games in the form of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Anno 1800 and Roller Champions. However, whether Ubisoft’s full lineup will appear again on Steam or whether these are specially selected titles is something Ubisoft declined to comment on according to The limit.

The Ubisoft spokesperson also says the company should never have severed its relationship with Valve. According to the spokesperson, Ubisoft is constantly evaluating how to reach different audiences with its games while maintaining its Ubisoft Connect ecosystem. A claim that directly provides no explanation for the publicist crackdown on Steam.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is coming to Steam on December 6th. The sequel called Assassin’s Creed Mirage will launch next year, but at the time of writing it hasn’t been confirmed whether or not this title will find its way onto Valve’s platform.
