Ubisoft: Several employees released due to misconduct

At Ubisoft, things are not going so smoothly. After the resignation of the creative director of Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, additional employees have apparently now been suspended.

According to recent reports, Ubisoft has apparently taken two executives and several employees on leave and initiated investigations into misconduct. There have been several allegations of sexual harassment and coercion against some employees over the past week. Ubisoft had initiated investigations as soon as the allegations emerged.

The two executives are said to be Tommy François and Maxime Béland. At least three allegations should be made against the two managers. Neither has commented on the allegations so far, and Ubisoft is currently refusing to comment as long as the investigations are ongoing.

The employees’ leave of absence followed shortly after creative director Ashraf Ismail had announced his resignation. The developer who most recently worked on Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla. Ismail is said to have been heavily involved in extramarital affairs without disclosing that he was married. Ismail then announced his resignation to take care of his family situation and personal problems.

At the moment there is a lot of rumbling in the gaming industry, which apparently has now been reached by the #metoo wave. It was recently announced, among other things, that Chris Avellone (formerly Obsidian Entertainment) multiple sexual harassment and coercion allegedly committed, whereupon Techland has terminated the collaboration with the author for the title Dying Light 2.
