Ubisoft Saguenay contributed in several ways to this first major project developed in part by Ubisoft Montreal. In addition to creating the game menus, the team worked on setting up a Twitch extension, called Crowncast. This extension made in Saguenay will allow viewers of the Twitch viewing platform to interact with their favorite players. They will even have decisions to make, which will change the outcome of the game.
The IT project manager at Ubisoft Saguenay, Dany Savard, was very happy to announce this news. “It’s a lot of emotions, we’ve been working on it for two years now and we’re very proud of what the team has achieved and how the game is welcomed by the players. So far, it’s going well, we’re still on adrenaline, ”he said in an interview with The Daily.
Mr. Savard explains that the game is currently running, “like a comedian show”. The number of users has therefore been limited to ensure that everything works properly. The comments are positive according to him and improvements are still to be expected. “Technically, we’ve been working on this for two years, but we have never been able to really test with so many people. It was still internal, with people from the project. We were playing and we had a hard time reaching 100 players, but here we have hundreds of thousands of players, so we start quietly not quickly and then we add more and more features, “he said. The official launch of the game will take place during the summer.
A different Battle Royale
Ubisoft is particularly proud to present this “innovative” game in the Battle Royale style. On the one hand, Dany Savard explains that for a rare time, a deceased player can still contribute to the success of his team during a game. The player becomes “a ghost” and remains present throughout the game which can last about twenty minutes. The production manager at Ubisoft Saguenay, Patricia Lefebvre, details the benefits of the extension.
