Ubisoft fired another 45 people

For a long time, Ubisoft has been struggling with many problems, because producers and publishers of many valuable brands should be careful when choosing projects to invest.

For this reason, a few months ago it was decided to cancel the mobile version of Tom Clancy’s The Division series with the subtitle Heartland. According to reports, Ubisoft’s management decided that the game had little potential to be an independent product, and not an addition to the second part of the game.

It turns out that the restructuring and cost cutting of Ubisoft is still going on. Bloomberg recently reported that company management has decided to lay off 45 workers in San Francisco and Cary. The first city is the headquarters of the creators of games like South Park: The Fractured But Whole and the service game Rocksmith + which is still in development. Cary, in turn, is a city in North Carolina where Red Storm Entertainment, the studio responsible for The Division Heartland, is headquartered.

A spokesperson from Ubisoft said that this difficult decision was made to adapt the studio’s organization to future business and development goals. It’s hard to say at this point what the “business and revenue goals” are, as The Division Heartland is the only known game that Red Storm has been working on since Assassin’s Creed Nexus Release VR. However, former employees of both branches are known to receive severance pay and help to find new work.
