New Rumors About Upcoming Ubisoft Games

Written by Michel Musters on

Ubisoft is rumored to be developing both a new Ghost Recon game and an all-new third-person shooter IP.

Kotaku meldt that the new Ghost Recon game should be released sometime in fiscal year 2023, which runs through April 2023. The game is said to be codenamed “Over” and has been in development for over a year. That name was previously on a leaked list from Nvidia. Many of those games were actually announced in the end.

Ubisoft has previously Ghost Recon Frontline Announced, a new free-to-play shooter. However, that announcement was met with mixed reactions from fans and last fall the game was announced postponed indefinitely† Kotaku claims that development will start all over again and that the game will not be released for the time being.

Rumors of the new third-person shooter IP were reported by journalist Tom Henderson Exputer posted. The game is said to be known internally as “Pathfinder” at this point, but has not been in development for long. Henderson says he has seen both photos and videos of the game.

Pathfinder would graphically resemble Hyper Scape, Ubisoft’s battle royale game which goes offline on April 28† However, the game would approach it differently in terms of gameplay. “A team of four players is dropped on the map and must fight their way to the center to fight the computer-controlled boss.”

Levels would be slightly adjusted per game, such as the placement of doors to be broken open. As a result, people have to forge a new path to the center every time, which is what the title ‘Pathfinder’ seems to refer to.

Furthermore, the game would have a hero shooter structure, where players can choose from characters with different characteristics. A central hub similar to Tower from Destiny would be part of the game’s social aspect.

Both Pathfinder and the new Ghost Recon game have not been officially announced at the time of writing.
