Ubisoft Announces Delay for XDefiant Release Date Due to Compliance Testing

Ubisoft announced on September 12th, “XDefiant” revealed the follow-up information regarding the release date. The game was scheduled to be released this summer, but the company has been forced to pass compliance tests on supported platforms, which has caused it to be delayed. The supported platforms for this work are PC/PS5/Xbox Series X|S.

“X Defiant” is an online competitive FPS that is basically free to play. The game is played in a 6v6 format, and the game modes include Arena mode and Linear mode. This work is a crossover work of Ubisoft titles, and forces and characters from the “Tom Clancy’s” series and “Watch Dogs” series appear. Each force is given a role according to its own characteristics. In addition to the original map, the battle stage also features maps featuring familiar locations from Ubisoft titles. There are also loadout elements that allow you to customize your weapons with attachments.

The film was announced on June 13th to be released this summer. However, this time, there has been a delay from the original schedule.revealed. This was mainly due to the console version having more compliance bugs than expected. Compliance-related issues are explained as issues related to the system for each platform (such as whether trophies can be earned normally, whether friend functions work properly, etc.). In other words, the nuance would be something like “a defect related to compatibility with platform standards.” Compliance-related issues are apparently handled separately from functionality-related issues, such as whether or not gameplay works as intended.

The announcement explains the company’s process for releasing works. The company’s works are checked and tested for functionality by an in-house team, and then the PC/PS/Xbox versions are verified by separate in-house teams, including compliance issues. After that, a commercial version (Candidate Master/temporary completed version) will be prepared to be submitted to each PC/PS/Xbox platform, and it will be tested on the platform.

The release process for X-Defiant began at the end of July, and the “first results (of platformer testing)” were revealed in mid-August. The test failed, and it was discovered that there were more problems with compliance than expected. If it passed the platform test, it was expected to be released at the end of August, but as a result, the original schedule has been postponed.

Currently, the commercial version is being prepared for resubmission, and it is explained that it will be submitted to the platform in less than two weeks. If all goes well, he is expected to be released in mid-to-late September. On the other hand, it is possible that testing on the platform will result in a “conditional pass,” requiring a day-one patch to fix compliance issues. If a day one patch is required, the release date will likely be pushed back to early to mid-October. The reason why a release date hasn’t been set specifically is that they don’t want to release the game unfinished.

The release of “X Defiant” was originally scheduled for this summer, but has been postponed. This was a rare case in that the process leading up to the release of the work was explained in detail when it was postponed. This work is appealing for its high level of transparency towards the community and its development approach that reflects feedback. A closed beta test was held in April this year, and an open session (test) was held in June. Currently, a map voting function has been implemented in response to player feedback, and there are plans to implement an S&D (Search and Destroy/Search and Destroy/mode where the player is divided into an attacker who places bombs and a defender who blocks them) style mode in the future.

XDefiant” is scheduled to be released for PC/PS5/Xbox Series X|S with basic play free.
