Ubisoft Account Deletion Policy: What Happens to Inactive Users and Their Games?

Players who do not log in with Ubisoft often enough may have their account deleted. In that case, they also lose access to all games and all game progress associated with the account.

The matter recently resurfaced when Twitter user “PC_enjoyer» posted a screenshot of an email he received from Ubisoft. The email states that the account has been blocked due to inactivity, and that it will be deleted after 30 days.

For users who receive the same notification, it is admittedly not over and done with. Those who wish to keep their account and games can log in within the 30 days and stop the process manually.

Ubisoft’s website informs that the deletion of accounts takes place in accordance with legislation regarding the processing of personal data. According to the developer, this only happens in rare cases, and only if the company has “strong reasons to believe that the account in question will remain unused”.

It’s not the first time Ubisoft account deletions have surfaced. Back in 2021 wrote NME that accounts could be deleted after as little as six months of inactivity, under GDPR legislation. However, Ubisoft stated at the time that at least four years without logins is required before accounts are suspended.
