Uber Reports 14% Revenue Growth in Q2 2023, Trip Increase of 22% – CEO Dara Khosrowshahi

SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 1 (Xinhua) — Ride-hailing company Uber Technologies on Tuesday reported financial results for the second quarter ended June 30 this year, with revenue growing 14 percent year-on-year to 9.2 billion US dollars.

The company’s total bookings grew 16 percent year-on-year to $33.6 billion, with total ride bookings reaching $16.7 billion and total delivery bookings reaching $15.6 billion.

The company’s trips for the quarter increased 22 percent year-on-year to 2.3 billion trips, or nearly 25 million trips per day on average, according to the results.

The company achieved net income of $394 million, while operating profit amounted to $326 million, up $1.0 billion year-on-year and $588 million quarter-on-quarter.

Net cash generated from operating activities was $1.2 billion, and free cash flow was $1.1 billion.

Unrestricted cash and cash equivalents and short-term investments amounted to $5.5 billion at the end of the second quarter.

For the third quarter of 2023, the company expects total bookings to be between $34 billion and $35 billion.

“Strong demand, new growth initiatives and continued cost discipline led to an excellent quarter, with trips up 22 percent and GAAP operating profit for the first time in Uber’s history,” said Dara Khosrowshahi, Chief Executive Officer.
