Ridesharing drivers are holding a second strike today after a lawsuit was filed to stop a pay rise approved by the Taxi and Limousine Commission.
On Nov. 20-22, the commission approved what was expected to be the first hike for taxi and rideshare drivers in a decade.
That hike reportedly went into effect Dec. 19, but Uber filed a lawsuit claiming the hike would force the company to raise prices for customers.
The strike is expected to last 24 hours and will include a protest in front of Uber’s headquarters in the city around noon on Thursday.
Drivers also urge customers to deactivate their apps during that 24-hour period.
The next hearing is scheduled for Friday in the Manhattan Supreme Court.
