Uber Driver Accused of Kidnapping and Attempted Sexual Assault: Victim’s Chilling Account

The prosecutor heard the statements of the girl in the community in the incident where she accused the Uber driver of stealing from her in the desert in the community and that she tried to sexually assault her on Saturday night.

The girl said she ordered an Uber from her sister’s phone, and took the car at 9:56, going from her home in the neighborhood to Sheikh Zayed.

She said that the driver, HA, asked her to cancel the trip and send the amount to his phone wallet (a plug so she doesn’t pay the company’s commission), but she refused and consulted her sister , who also supported her opinion.

At 10:30 pm, Sally Awad, the victim’s sister, received calls from 3 personal numbers asking her where she wanted to take her to her sister’s place.

After about 15 minutes, the complainant’s sister received a call. she threatened her with a lot, attacked her, and tried to force her, but she resisted.

The victim said that she held the “electrode” in her hand until her blood flowed, and she pushed the driver with her legs, and he shouted at her, “I see that your blood is ‘flow and you are going against him,’ and she answered, ‘You will not touch me unless you kill me.’

The girl managed to open the door on the other side and was able to escape and call for help from passing cars until they saved her.

For its part, Uber said that it had determined the account of the driver accused of attempting to kidnap and attempt to suspend the rape victim, stressing, “We are working to liaise with the local authorities to provide all the necessary information. We are determined to continue our efforts to tackle all forms of sexual assault and violence.”

The prosecutor ordered the driver to be examined by forensic medicine to find out if he had taken narcotic substances or not, and he also ordered the seizure of the weapon used in the incident.

The prosecution called witnesses to the incident that carried the girl from the desert of the Third Settlement to her home.
