UAW Union Reaches Agreement with Stellantis (Chrysler) After Six-Week Strike: Workers to Vote on Salaries Increase

After six weeks of strike in the automobile industry, the UAW union has just reached an agreement with Stellantis (Chrysler), similar to that reached with Ford. Workers will be asked to vote to approve or reject them.

The agreement provides for a 25% increase in salaries over four and a half years. This is less than the 46% increase initially claimed by the UAW leadership, which did not want to use the full power of the auto workers by putting all the factories on strike, much less allowing them to to decide on the conduct of their strike. However, this result represents a substantial increase which would not have been achieved without this partial strike.

In the United States, bosses, even the most powerful, cannot do without workers: there, as everywhere, the strength of workers is the strike!
