Always looking for the students and professors of the Autonomous University of Nuevo León to be at the forefront in digital teachingin addition to placing the UANL As a spearhead in educational innovation issues, the Directorate of Digital Education (DED) from UANL celebrates 25 years of being a benchmark in these areas at the national level.
In facilities with state-of-the-art technological equipment, audio and video recording studio, augmented reality labsvideo games, training rooms and led by Dr. Lucero Cavazos Salazarthe DED maintains the objective of offering courses with the quality and relevance that an institution like the UANL require.
“Today the education offered by the UANL It can be provided entirely online, with highly structured methodology and state-of-the-art technology. All this because the times and the students have requested it. The institution is always in constant evolution,” Cavazos Salazar commented in an interview.
“It has been a constant evolution and what has characterized us when offering educational programs in non-school modality is to always be at the forefront in the technological part and look for the important elements in the guidelines that we must take into account in said modality,” he said.
The director pointed out that the department has not only strengthened in the technological part, but that the study programs are designed to incorporate didactic strategies, structural design, graphic design, educational production, immersive worlds, simulators, among other resources that together have allowed progress in education.
Lucero Cavazos Salazar indicated that because the University was already using the NEXUS platform, it was able to take a step forward in the process of teaching-learningorganizing its portfolio of evidence and updates very well in order to keep students’ skills up to date.
He also stated that, in the last three years, digital education in the UANL It was strengthened and allowed the work of the unit to be known and recognized at the national and international level, thanks to the efforts, alliances and commitment of the academic areas and central level directorates.
“Thanks to the work of the entire educational plant, and the support of the Rectory, during the pandemic we were able to maintain ourselves as an international quality educational offer for our more than 200,000 students. This led us to create 86,000 virtual and training classrooms for more than 6 thousand teachers, strengthening what the UANL 25 years ago,” he said.
The head of the Directorate of Digital Education added that although there was a lot of expectation for the implementation of the digital strategy at this very particular moment, its success was due to the fact that there was confidence in the different work teams of the Maximum State House of Studies .
“It was the moment when the spirit of the UANL she had to appear to show that she was ready to face this very particular moment. We already had the digital resources, but we were able to identify all the areas of opportunity and we got ahead. The courses were tailor-made, simple but dynamic. We train teachers, we look for new tools and we get ahead,” said Cavazos Salazar proudly.
After the pandemic, the UANL it is the only public institution that continues to offer education online. Given this, Lucero Cavazos mentioned that they are currently working on the incorporation of the Digital Education Model, so that all the units of the University develop study plans in accordance with the new educational trends.
The UANL received the Tecnos Nuevo León 4.0 Award from the State Government. thanks to the “Development of digital educational resources” project, an initiative that stood out for incorporating technology in the classroom from an innovative and disruptive approach by applying digital skills.
