UAEM, committed to the preservation and restoration of its historical heritage

Since its foundation as a Literary Institute in 1828, this House of Studies preserves a cultural heritage, whose mission represents a transversal axis of education in the state territory, assured the university servant.

In 2001, the Autonomous Mexiquense launched actions to preserve and restore its cultural capital, whose actions are carried out on grounds such as identifying the type of piece, determining its damage and under what processes it will be submitted for its restoration.

When giving the online conference “Multidisciplinary research in restoration processes”, he expressed that the specialists in the field, in addition to knowing in depth the characteristics of the pieces, must delve into the intention of creation and the importance that this type of interventions it has for society.

The university said that interdisciplinary work is crucial for the restoration of pieces to be carried out within the ethical principles of respect for the original piece, minimal intervention and compatibility of materials. The objective is to restore the relevance and collective recognition that a piece has acquired without altering its essence, he said.

González Uribe specified that collaboration with other disciplines is necessary to elaborate diagnoses, design treatments and determine the conditions of exhibition and protection.
Finally, he indicated that the department under his charge has, among its functions, elaborating a diagnosis of the state of conservation of university cultural assets, carrying out preventive and corrective actions; in addition to offering advice on handling, transfer, exhibition and safeguarding of various collections.
