The United Arab Emirates welcomed, on Wednesday, the Security Council’s adoption of a resolution calling for a series of humanitarian truces for several days in the entire Gaza Strip, with a special focus on saving the lives of children who have borne the brunt of this war.
The UAE mission to the Security Council stressed in a statement, through its account on the “X” website, regarding the explanation for the vote on the Security Council resolution on the Palestinian issue, the urgent need for the Council to take action regarding the war in Gaza. The main elements of the resolution identified the basic necessity of protecting children and adhering to pause periods. Extended for sufficient days throughout Gaza, allowing vital humanitarian activities to be carried out.
The UAE also praised the Council’s binding demand for all parties to comply with their obligations under international humanitarian law.
The UAE considered this decision to be an important first step in the Council’s response to this war, thanking Malta for its efforts in coming up with this decision.
