UAE University Students Participate in Asian Higher Education Conference on Volunteer Work and Community Participation

Al Ain, October 10 / WAM / A team of students from the United Arab Emirates University participated in the activities of the Asian Higher Education Conference, which in its first edition focused on volunteer work and community participation, to enhance student volunteer work skills, and which was organized by the Voluntary Services Office at Tsinghua University in China.

The UAE University team included student Sultan Muhammad Al-Atawi, from the College of Management and Economics, and student Khatoun Al-Hattawi, from the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, along with a number of university employees.

The conference, which was held via video communication technology, discussed four main topics: student projects in universities, transitioning to a green environment, supporting the elderly and people of determination, public health, and enhancing community well-being.

The university team gave a presentation on the UAE University’s support for volunteer work, the importance of volunteer work for students and its contribution to developing skills, acquiring knowledge, refining experiences, and exchanging knowledge.

Student Muhammad Sultan Al-Atawi, a member of the participating team, said that he was nominated by the university, due to his keenness and constant participation in volunteer work, pointing out that volunteering gives him an opportunity to acquire skills and experiences that enhance his ability to interact with society through qualitative volunteer participation, stressing that volunteer work It is a gateway to enhancing an individual’s CV, refining his personal skills, and self-realization away from school.

In turn, student Khatoun Ali Al-Hattawi expressed her feeling of pride and satisfaction from her involvement in volunteer work and representing the UAE University in various forums, because through these participations she contributes to the development of society, considering volunteer work as a basic humanitarian pillar for giving and improving society.
