Al Ain, May 8, 2020, WAM, The United Arab Emirates University announced the launch of the President’s Award for Innovation in its ninth session, in fields that are in line with the objectives of the “Year of Sustainability”.
The research priorities and innovation activities of the UAEU are aligned with the national strategic initiatives that promote creativity, innovation, excellence and leadership, which would contribute to the promotion of sustainable and balanced economic development and prosperity of the nation.
The award targets faculty, staff and students at the university in a framework that supports innovative thinking and scientific research, provided that current and emerging technologies and innovations that provide effective solutions to national and global challenges are disseminated in priority areas such as climate change, environmental sustainability, space science and the achievements in the UAE in this field. Space, renewable energy, water and food security, health and medical sciences, education and lifelong learning, mobility and urban development, technology and cyber security, social, administrative and economic growth.
Dr. Ahmed Ali Murad – Associate Deputy for Scientific Research explained that the university is keen, through the award, to launch innovative, applicable projects that contribute to achieving the comprehensive and sustainable social and economic development of the United Arab Emirates.
He said that the President’s Award for Innovation is a catalyst for the innovation environment at the university, as it works to build students’ skills and qualify them for the requirements of the labor market. . He pointed out that some amendments were made to the areas and rules of the award this year, which witnessed registration in two stages, the first of which began on May 1 and ends on July 10. All university members, including faculty members, employees and students, can register and submit applications, explaining that the general winners are The past are not eligible for registration, in order to provide the opportunity for other innovators.. Then work begins in the second phase, starting from September 1st to October 31st, during which complete applications and supporting documents will be submitted, after which the evaluation process begins, so that applications and inquiries can be submitted through the competition website , or by communicating with the logistics coordinator to respond to inquiries related to the award.
