Tan-Tan, July 10, WAM/ The UAE Pavilion participating in the Tan-Tan Cultural Season in Morocco organized the conclusion of the camel races at the Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Camel Racecourse in the city of Tan-Tan in the Kingdom of Morocco.
His Excellency Major General Staff Pilot Faris Khalaf Al Mazrouei, Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police, Chairman of the Festivals Management Committee and Cultural and Heritage Programs in Abu Dhabi, and Abdul Latif Al-Shaddali, “Worker of the Tan-Tan Region”, crowned the winners of the race, in the presence of Abdullah Butti Al Qubaisi, Director of Events and Communications at the Festivals Management Committee and Cultural and Heritage Programs in Abu Dhabi. Mohammed bin Aaded Al Muhairi, Director of Traditional Camel Races, and a number of Moroccan camel owners and fans of traditional racing.
The results of the “Laqaya Bakkar” race resulted in “Omar Al-Bardiji” from Tan-Tan winning the first place, and in the “Laqaya Ja’dan” round, “Mohammed Al-Bardiji” from Tan-Tan won the first place. From the city of El-Ayoun, and “Wali Benga” from the Assa-Zag region in southern Morocco won the first place in the “Human Rider Zamoul” race.
The camel races in the Tan-Tan season reflect the joint efforts between the UAE and the sisterly Kingdom of Morocco to preserve the authentic Arab traditions and preserve the common heritage, with the aim of supporting the cultural heritage of the nomadic Bedouins, encouraging Moroccan camel owners to acquire purebred camel breeds, and expanding the practice and sustainability of heritage sports. In general, and camel racing in particular as an authentic and ancient Arab sport passed down from generation to generation.
The Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Camel Racecourse in Tan-Tan is the first camel racing field in Africa, and it attracts camel racing enthusiasts in Morocco.
