UAE Lunar Space Station: Components and Scientific Experiments Revealed

The Mohammed bin Rashid Space Center revealed that the lunar space station, which the UAE is participating in establishing and developing, consists of 8 main parts, which are the “Logistics Unit”, the International Habitation Unit “I-Hub”, “Emirates Gateway”, “Canada ARM 3”, and the “Canada ARM 3” site. Halo housing and logistics services, in addition to the BPE unit, the European refueling system service unit, and the Orion spacecraft.

Scientific experiments

The center indicated that the logistical unit will deliver the payload and scientific experiments before the astronauts launch to the moon, and will serve as the laboratory in which scientific experiments will be conducted. The International Habitation Unit (iHub) will be an additional residence for the astronauts, equipped with cameras and systems. Various supports and will be designed by ESA.

In cooperation with the Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency, the station’s airlock, which the UAE will design and build, will be a gateway through which astronauts will emerge to undertake spacewalk missions and transfer scientific research to and from the station, in addition to its role in ensuring the docking of vehicles with the station. .

The Canada Arm 3 robotic arm, which will be provided by the Canadian Space Agency, will be responsible for assisting astronauts in conducting scientific experiments and undertaking spacewalks, while the BPE unit will serve as a command and communications center for the Gateway, and a power center for the lunar space station. While the responsibility of the “European Refueling System Service” unit will be to supply the “BBE” unit and the spacecraft with fuel, through the fuel tanks it will contain.

Housing units

As for the “Halo” housing and logistics services section, it will be a miniature housing unit, which will contain a pressurized functional storage unit, and the “Orion” spacecraft will be responsible for carrying the astronauts on board to and from the lunar station, and this vehicle will also work to carry the international housing unit. “iHub” to the station, in order to attach it to the “Halo” housing and logistics services site.
