UAE heightens measures against Ramadan beggars.

UAE steps up action against those who beg during the month of Ramadan. Dubai Police and Sharjah Police stated that many people have already been arrested. Police has also started a campaign against beggars. (UAE steps up action against beggars during Ramadan)

The authorities are taking several actions to find and take action against beggars during the month of Ramadan. Sharjah Police has started a campaign titled ‘Begging is a crime’. The authorities have also released an awareness video related to this.

Most of the beggars come to the country on visit visas and beg. Brigadier General Ibrahim Al Ajal, Deputy Director of Sharjah Police Operations Department, said that a strong operation is being carried out to arrest such people and many people have already been arrested.

It has been stated in the interrogation of the police that some tourism companies in Sharjah and Dubai brought such people to the country on a monthly salary basis. The Dubai Police also announced that 25 beggars were arrested in various places in Dubai during the first days of Ramadan. The CID chief said that among those arrested, 12 were men and 13 were women. The police advised not to cooperate or show sympathy to the beggars.
