The handball team will launch its friendly matches in the Macedonia camp, tomorrow, Tuesday, against the Greek national team, as part of its preparations to participate in the 21st Asian Championship, which will be held from January 11 to 25 next, and qualifies for the 2025 World Cup, in Croatia, Denmark and Norway, which will be held in the Khalifa City Hall. Sports, with the participation of 16 teams, were divided into 4 groups, and the top four qualify for the World Cup.
The team will play 3 friendly matches during the camp before returning to the country on January 7 and traveling to Bahrain on January 9 in preparation for the start of the Asian Championship matches.
Faisal Al-Tawash, Chairman of the National Teams Committee and Head of the Mission, confirmed that the team was supposed to play 4 matches, and the first match was against Macedonia on the second day of arrival, and it was difficult to play after a long and arduous journey and coach Prstovac feared that the players would be injured and preferred to cancel the match and not Playing and being satisfied with playing 3 friendly matches, the first with Greece and then two matches against Kosovo, on January 5 and 6, and the coach was keen to play two consecutive matches in order to experience all the players and draw appropriate plans before entering the atmosphere of Asia.
Al-Tawash added that training began in two periods since the mission’s arrival, and the coach was keen to raise the players’ fitness levels in order to withstand the pressures of the tournament, which requires high physical loads due to the successive matches, while in local competitions the player plays a match a week.
He noted the commitment of all players in training and the coach’s directives, and there is a state of satisfaction from the technical staff with the level the team has reached. The three matches will be a strong rehearsal and an opportunity to correct mistakes before the official confrontations.
