UAE Forges Global Partnerships to Empower Governments and Build a Better Future

DUBAI, 1st August, 2023 (WAM) — Deputy Minister of Cabinet Affairs for Competitiveness and Knowledge Exchange, Abdulla Nasser Lootah, has expressed the United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) unwavering dedication to advancing its global engagement and its preparation for the future by forging meaningful global partnerships to empower governments, support global development efforts and build a better world for future generations.

This aligns with the vision of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the directives of Vice President, Prime Minister and Governor of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

As part of the UAE delegation’s participation in the United Nations High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) on Sustainable Development in New York, the Office presented the UAE’s cutting-edge expertise in the development of government and fostering global partnerships to empower governments and enhance their future preparedness in line with guidance from wise leaders.

The UAE held productive meetings with delegations from countries such as Serbia, Croatia, Romania, Ireland, Brunei, Tajikistan and Barbados, among others.

Lootah said the UAE government is actively sharing its expertise, knowledge and successful experiences in government development with other nations. For over 50 years, the UAE has developed a flexible, efficient and innovative business model from which growth-seeking governments can learn to improve their performance and advance their societies, aligning with global goals. of global development.

He pointed out that the global forums organized by the UN provide a platform to showcase the UAE Government Experience Exchange Program (GEEP) and showcase its efforts to strengthen partnerships. worlds and promote international dialogue. This initiative is seen as an effective approach to advancing the work of government, establishing innovative business models and exploring qualitative opportunities to improve government performance, thereby improving people’s lives and accelerating the achievement of the SDGs worldwide.

Lootah further highlighted the positive results of the Governmental Experience Exchange Office, where governments and countries have leveraged the UAE’s unparalleled knowledge, expertise and experiences in government work to design innovative solutions to existing and future challenges.

The program’s emphasis on building partnerships with governments helps explore new development opportunities, all with the overarching goal of building a better and more sustainable future for societies and people around the world.

Meetings with various delegations have enabled the UAE to expand the positive impact of GEEP, which has benefited approximately one billion people in beneficiary countries since its launch in 2018. With effective partnerships established in more than 30 countries and approximately With 30 million hours of work logged, the UAE’s efforts to hold governments accountable and create a better future for people are evident.

During bilateral meetings with the Romanian delegation, discussions focused on strengthening cooperation and exchanging experiences in the sectors of government work, including government services, youth, education, renewable energy and the economy. Emphasis was placed on knowledge exchange and adoption of successful UAE government development models.

They also explored the use of the UAE Government Leaders Program model to improve government management and capacity and empower human resources in Romania with forward-looking tools.

Discussions with Brunei focused on exploring opportunities for cooperation and partnership in sectors vital to achieving sustainable development. Key focus areas included sharing best practices in sustainability, holistic development and government work to improve performance, productivity and achieve sustainable development in Brunei’s government operations. Through this collaborative effort, the two countries aim to establish an exemplary model of governmental cooperation.

The UAE delegation actively explored ways to strengthen cooperation with its Irish counterpart, focusing on exchanging experiences in modernizing government functions and promoting sustainable development. Discussions focused on various sectors, such as future preparedness by updating government strategies and policies and advances in information and communication technologies (ICTs), pharmaceuticals, economic openness and natural resources.

The UAE delegation focused on expanding the exchange of experiences with Serbia in various key sectors, including those described in the memorandum of understanding between the UAE and Serbia on modernization of government and the exchange of experiences.

The MoU encompasses smart government services, artificial intelligence (AI) and metaverse, capacity building, government accelerators, business incubators, science and innovation, creative industries and tourism , programming, the digital economy as well as education and competitiveness.

In addition, the MoU facilitates enhanced training for government officials, providing over 5,400 hours of training to over 2,000 trainees through 110 workshops.

Within the framework of GEEP, the UAE delegation discussed opportunities to strengthen bilateral cooperation with Tajikistan, focusing on the continued development of economic and diplomatic relations. Discussions also focused on investments in renewable energy and the environment, as well as digitalization to advance government services and find innovative solutions to challenges while strengthening future preparedness.

The delegations from the United Arab Emirates and Barbados explored avenues to strengthen cooperation and coordination across various sectors, specifically focusing on developing and modernizing the work of government under their Strategic Partnership Agreement for modernization of government. This partnership promotes the exchange of knowledge, expertise and successful experiences between the two nations to advance performance, productivity and sustainability in the Government of Barbados work ecosystem. The collaboration aims to improve future preparedness and discover innovative solutions to challenges in various areas of government work.

During bilateral meetings with the Croatian delegation, opportunities for cooperation in the exchange of government experiences were discussed, focusing on the promotion of government services, practices, proactivity and excellence in government work and capacity building of government officials.

Discussions also focused on designing services that meet Croatia’s current and future needs, with the aim of creating a unique model of government cooperation that improves the well-being of societies. This collaborative effort is expected to have a positive impact on accelerating the SDGs around the world.
