Hangzhou (China) October 4 / WAM / The UAE equestrian team won the bronze medal in the show jumping team competition, at the Asian Games currently being held in the Chinese city of Hangzhou, raising the UAE delegation’s tally to 7 colorful medals in this tournament.
The team’s knights presented the medal to the wise leadership, expressing their happiness at achieving the new achievement, which reflects the efforts made in the past period.
Our team was represented by a quartet of Mohammed Al-Hajri, Abdullah Al-Marri, Salem Al-Suwaidi, and Omar Al-Marzouqi, and the team achieved 120.58 seconds.
Knight Salem Al Suwaidi confirmed that our team’s chances are still there to boost the UAE’s harvest with other medals in the individual competition on Friday.
He said: “We gave an outstanding performance and we were responsible for achieving the bronze medal, but we were aspiring for the best, and I hope that we will succeed in strengthening the UAE’s credit in future participations.”
The UAE’s harvest rose to 7 colored medals (one gold, one silver, and 5 bronze) in judo, cycling, and equestrian sports.
His Excellency Major General Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, President of the Emirates Equestrian and Racing Federation, praised the unlimited support of the wise leadership and the capabilities and infrastructure it provided to Emirates equestrian, which enabled it to be present on the podiums in international and continental forums.
He said: “This support, care and attention had an impact on the qualification of the Emirates Knights team for the Olympic Games in Paris, an unprecedented achievement, providing the opportunity for the Emirates Knights to appear for the first time in the team competition at the Olympic Games.”
In terms of the results of our sports mission, the cycling team duo, Safiya Al-Sayegh and Zahra Hussein, concluded the 140 km women’s road race in 14th and 26th places with a time of 3:36:07 hours and 3:42:10 hours, respectively.
Tomorrow, Thursday, the cycling team, consisting of Abdullah Al Hammadi, Saif Al Kaabi, Jaber Al Mansouri and Abdullah Al Ali, will compete in the men’s road race.
The men’s road competition includes two races, the first a 39.6 km “against the clock” race and the second a 207.7 km road race.
