UAE and South Korea Strengthen Joint Cooperation in Developing Entrepreneurship and Supporting SME Growth

The Minister of Economy, Abdullah bin Touq Al-Marri, held a meeting with the Minister of Small and Medium Enterprises and Emerging Companies in South Korea, Lee Young, to discuss strengthening joint cooperation in developing entrepreneurship and supporting growth prospects for small and medium enterprises in the markets of the two countries.

Within the activities of the “Korean Business Day in the Middle East 2023” hosted by Dubai, the two sides agreed to develop new action plans that include providing programs and facilities that would accelerate the growth of startups’ business in the two countries’ markets, increase their investments and support their exports to reach new markets, in addition to encouraging and motivating entrepreneurs. Small and medium entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs to invest in sectors of the new economy.

Bin Touq said that the UAE is the second Gulf and Arab trading partner for South Korea during the year 2022, explaining that the value of non-oil foreign trade between the two countries amounted to 3.4 billion dirhams during January and February of 2023, achieving a growth of 9% compared to the same period in 2022. While it reached 19.5 billion dirhams last year, a growth of 14% compared to 2021.

He stressed that Emirati investments will witness momentum in various economic and commercial sectors in the Korean markets.
