UAE and Azerbaijan sign cooperation agreement covering 8 sectors

His Excellency Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, received His Excellency Muhammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, as part of a visit by a delegation of the Government of the Emirates to the capital, Baku, during which he was signed a cooperation agreement in the field of experience exchange and government development between the UAE and the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan, under the Government of Knowledge Exchange Programme.
His Excellency Ilham Aliyev welcomed the UAE delegation and praised the fruitful and positive relations and partnership in various evolution in various fields, underlining the commitment of the Republic of Azerbaijan to strengthen its partnership with the UAE and broaden the horizons of cooperation between the two countries, in a manner that meets their aspirations and reflects their directions to develop government cooperation in various fields and vital sectors of common interest.
During the meeting, Muhammad Al-Gergawi stressed that the UAE, under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, State President, “may God protect him” and the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, “may God protect him”, wishes to expand the Department of Strategic Partnerships with friendly countries and world governments to improve the work of governments and improve the life of companies.
He said: The signing of the memorandum of cooperation in the field of government experience exchange with the government of the Republic of Azerbaijan represents an important new station for the government knowledge exchange program launched by the UAE, a translation of the visions of his leadership on the importance of sharing experiences, success stories and innovative working models in various fields of government work.
The bilateral cooperation agreement in the field of government experience exchange, signed by His Excellency Muhammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, and His Excellency Olvi Mehdiyev, Head of the State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations in the Republic of Azerbaijan, focuses on 8 axes, including: Government Excellence, Government Services and Government Capacity Building, Competitiveness and Statistics, Policies and Strategies, Government Performance and Government Accelerators.
The signing of the memorandum was attended by Abdullah Nasser Lootah, Director-General of the Prime Minister’s Office at the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs, Mohammed Murad Al Balushi, UAE Ambassador to the Republic of Azerbaijan, and a number of officials from the Azerbaijani government.
The bilateral cooperation aims to share and exchange successful expertise and experiences of the governments of the two countries in the fields of government work development and the modernization of its methodologies, in a way that contributes to improving the efficiency of the government work system, increasing levels of readiness for the future and finding innovative solutions to challenges.
Muhammad Al-Gergawi stressed that the bilateral cooperation between the UAE and Azerbaijan governments translates the visions and guidance of the UAE leadership to exchange knowledge and share the success story of the UAE government, which has been able for fifty years to develop a flexible and effective business model, which reflects positively on the life of the company.
He said: The partnership constitutes an extension of the close relations between the two friendly countries and a targeted step to improve the model of positive cooperation in the modernization of government work, the exchange of knowledge and experience and the sharing of flexible working methodologies and proactive measures developed by the governments of the two countries, within an integrated partnership model aimed at improving the life of society.

During the next phase, the two governments will work to form joint task forces, with the aim of improving government integration and coordination. The UAE maintains distinct relations with the Republic of Azerbaijan, in the economic and trade fields, and in the fields of energy, sustainability and others 2020, while the two countries have active relations through investments in various projects. It is worth noting that the UAE government has signed strategic partnerships and memorandums of cooperation in government modernization with a number of countries on different continents around the world.

Olvi Mehdiyev, head of the State Agency for Citizen Services and Social Innovation affiliated to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, said, “The cooperation agreement will play an effective role in enhancing cooperation between our two states and government institutions, especially in light of the strong relations between the two countries and we will share Azerbaijan’s experience in “ASAN” service centers.With the Emirati side, the UAE will also share their experiences with us in the program “Government Accelerators”.
Mehdiyev added, “Through this constructive cooperation in the fields of modernization, government services and the application of social innovations in government work, we will lay a solid foundation for our joint development and future success.”
