UAE and Armenia Strengthen Economic and Trade Relations

Yerevan, 3 October / WAM / His Excellency Abdullah Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Chairman of the Federation of Emirates Chambers, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Head of the UAE delegation participating in the Armenian-Emirati Business Forum 2023, met in the capital, Yerevan, with His Excellency Tigran Khachatrya, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, in the presence of Her Excellency Dr. Nariman Al Mulla, UAE Ambassador to Armenia, His Excellency Humaid Mohammed bin Salem, Secretary General of the Federation of UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry, His Excellency Khalfan Misfer, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Umm Al Quwain Chamber of Commerce, and His Excellency Ahmed Al Yamahi, Member of the Board of Directors of the Fujairah Chamber of Commerce, A number of files of common interest were discussed.
During the meeting, His Excellency Al Mazrouei stressed the UAE’s keenness to strengthen the strong bilateral relations that bring the two countries together, especially at the trade, economic and investment levels.
For his part, His Excellency Khachatriya praised the depth of the distinguished relationship between the two countries, calling for increasing areas and opportunities for cooperation for the benefit of the two friendly countries.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the areas of cooperation between the United Arab Emirates and the Republic of Armenia and ways to develop them in a way that achieves the interests and aspirations of the two countries and their people. They stressed the importance of exchanging visits and encouraging everything that would support the business and trade sector. They also discussed possible mechanisms to increase trade and investment cooperation and translate this into practical projects that contribute to the economic development of the two countries.
It is worth noting that Yerevan hosted, from September 18-19, 2023, the Armenian-Emirati Business Forum with the participation of His Excellency Vahan Keropian, Minister of Economy of Armenia, a high-level presence from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and a high-level delegation from the UAE headed by His Excellency Abdullah Al Mazrouei. Representatives of about 100 Emirati companies and 200 Armenian companies from all major economic sectors participated in the forum.
The forum witnessed the signing of four memorandums of understanding, three for cooperation between the business sector and a memorandum of understanding to establish a joint Emirati-Armenian business council.
The meetings demonstrated the readiness of the Government of Armenia to provide all facilities and incentives to Emirati companies in various sectors, especially since the Armenian economy has many opportunities that suit the orientations of Emirati investors.

Armenian officials expressed their happiness about the development witnessed by the two countries’ relations in various sectors, noting that the visa exemption system will contribute to strengthening communication between the two business communities and developing investment and commercial cooperation.
