Within the framework of Children’s Day and Student’s Day, staff from different areas of the Autonomous University of Baja California Sur recently coordinated a conviviality for the girls, boys and adolescents of the “Ignacio Ramírez” School Shelter No. 4, located in the community of San antonio.
During the event, in addition to the delivery of presents, the commitment was established by the maximum house of studies in Sudcalifornia to formulate different mechanisms that help reduce student dropout and strategies for the prevention of drug addiction in boys, girls and young people in the community.
Likewise, promoting sport and culture, essential aspects that give strength to the social fabric, promote healthy coexistence, allow the acquisition of ethical values and contribute to the positive transformation of the social fabric.
This was announced by Dr. Mehdi Mesmoudi, Head of the UABCS Outreach Department, stating that one of the commitments established in the Institutional Planning and Development Program is to exercise social and environmental responsibility in the functions of teaching, research, cultural dissemination, outreach, as well as in management university.
All this, in accordance with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which constitute a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and improve the lives and prospects of people around the world.
In the case of the UABCS relationship with the community of San Antonio, he said that it responds to a project some years ago to support its economic reactivation.
Hence it has been established communication with the administrator of the School Shelter, Lic. Tania Alegría Arce Cota, to celebrate this small gathering so that the little ones will have a very pleasant time, but also to have an approach that allows strengthening the social bond of the university with said community.
