Two wins from the last four games and steps in the right direction – that could be a short summary of the U21s over the past few weeks. Even with the defeat in Haiger, U21 coach Dennis Schmitt saw a fundamentally good away game, but his team could not be rewarded for it. The next task should now be tackled with more discipline and clarity in certain situations: On Sunday, October 6th, the Adlerträger will welcome Kickers Offenbach, the current leaders of the Regionalliga Südwest.
Like last season, the prestigious duel will take place in the PSD Bank Arena on Bornheimer Hang. U21 coach Dennis Schmitt is looking forward to the duel: “It’s a special game in which we want to be an extremely unpleasant opponent for Kickers Offenbach,” said Schmitt, who sets the route: “We’ll do everything we can have. Because we’re going into this game with the goal of making it successful.”
The opponent: Favorite at the top of the table
After an unsatisfactory eleventh place at the end of the 2023/24 season from the OFC’s perspective, things are going much better so far this season. After the only defeat of the season (2:4 in Mainz), the Kickers come to the Bornheimer Hang as league leaders with the momentum of the 6:2 win against Kassel. The additions that gave Christian Neidhart’s team stability also contributed to this. After the former eagle bearer Marc Wachs joined the Offenbach team in the winter, midfielder Daniel Dejanovic followed in the summer.
Also new to the Kickers and arrived straight away: Boubacar Barry, who came from Walldorf and has so far attracted attention with four goals and just as many assists. Ron Berlinski, who comes from Essen, is also an important factor in the OFC offensive with six goals and one assist. Noel Knothe (25), who trained at Eintracht from the U17 level onwards, has not missed a minute in his second season at OFC.
