U20 World Hockey Championship Our team has great inner strength, he assured before the duel of the twenty with Finy Kulich

After the disappointment after a 1: 2 defeat in Germany, the Czech youths were again full of determination again the very next day. “The defeat with Germany is a thing of the past. We try not to look at it and walk with our heads held high. We are already thinking about the next match. Our team has great inner strength. I think it is difficult to overcome,” Kulich said.

However, the 17-year-old striker is well aware that his team needs to improve. Despite the high number of shots on goal, he was not effective against the Germans. “In the end we have to have more emphasis. The boys in defense played five backs and they dealt with it very well, but we have to score goals in front. I myself had more chances to decide. I have to change them,” he admitted self-critically.

He made his debut in the junior team only in November, so at the championship the author of seven extra-league goals in the Karlovy Vary jersey is experiencing a baptism by fire. “That match with Canada was the hardest in my career. I have never experienced anything like it. It was definitely the hardest and also the fastest,” admitted Kulich, who considers himself a good skater.

“That match showed a man what he needs to improve on. From my point of view, it’s mainly physical play and skills. And what did I compare to the Canadians? Perhaps in skating speed. I think I’m a good skater. At first I thought “I could have the upper hand, but I didn’t have much time against Canada. It was two levels higher. In addition, everything is played out on a smaller course, it’s terribly fast.”

Although he is the benjamin of the selection, in which there is no other player of the year 2004, he feels good in the team. “The boys took me in very well and I don’t look at me at all if I’m younger or even two years younger. I’m happy for the space on the ice I have and I try to help the team as much as possible,” Kulich said.
