U20 World Cup in Canada: Germany’s juniors’ ice hockey team get their first victory – others

Two days after the 2:16 bankruptcy against hosts Canada, coach Tobias Abstreiter’s team, weakened by numerous corona infections, sat 4: 3 (1: 1, 2: 2, 0: 0, 1: 0) after extra time against Slovakia.

With a win in the last group game against Switzerland, Germany could move into the quarter-finals from Wednesday to Thursday (0.00 a.m. / MagentaSport).

Tim Stützle brought the DEB selection in the lead (6th), but in the first section Slovakia equalized with Michal Mrazik (11th). After a goal from Oleksiy Mykluhka, the game seemed to be turned (24th). Stützle, who had signed an entry contract in the North American NHL with the Ottawa Senators on Sunday, equalized (29th) and Florian Elias from Adler Mannheim had an answer (40th) to Mrazik’s 3-2 (35th). After a goalless final third, Mario Zimmermann scored the winning goal in overtime (65th).
