The German hockey players won the U20 World Cup match against Austria 4:2 on Friday. In a direct battle for promotion, they secured participation in the quarter-finals, the Austrians finished the tournament.
The Germans entered the tournament with a narrow defeat by Sweden 0:1, and Canada outclassed them 11:2 on Thursday. They scored their first points of the tournament against Austria, and again had a duel against the Czech Republic on Saturday. The Austrians scored their first goals in Friday’s game after three heavy defeats.
