Slovakian under-20 ice hockey representatives unsuccessfully entered the WC in Moncton, Canada. In their first game on Tuesday, they lost 2:5 against the previous league finalists from Finland.
Ivan Feneš, SR coach: “It was a game of three different periods. We had a difficult start to the game. The Finns had a difficult game in the legs, we wanted to take advantage of it, but we couldn’t. In the second period we gave them three chances and they taken advantage, we didn’t convert our chances and we also lost many important matches.”
Peter Repčík, scorer of two goals for Slovakia: “In the first period we were scared, in the second it was decided that we would concede three goals. But in the third we played well and we have to build on that. I’m happy with having scored two goals, but I think it will be better in the tournament. I hope we surprise the Americans, they’re definitely playable.”
Samuel Honzek, SR forward: “It was the first match and a lot of positive things were shown in it. But also negative. In the first period we were not ready for the tournament, in the second we scored goals. But in the third we showed that we can play hockey even against strong opponents. ”
