There is no shortage of words of praise also from the Nagano Olympic champion and two-time world champion Jaromir Jágr, who experienced the aforementioned semifinal with the Swedes in Cologne.

“So tomorrow, after many years, our hockey team will play for gold. Congratulations to our hockey players at the Junior WC!” joined former goalkeeper Dominik Hašek on Twitter.

“A great game from us, an absolutely deserved victory and congratulations to the whole team. So again a victory…”, three-time Stanley Cup winner and 1985 world champion Jiří Hrdina wishes the 20-year-old Czech a gold medal gold after 22 long years.

So far, the last coach to lead the juniors to a World Cup medal is Alois Hadamczik, who won bronze in 2005. But that will no longer apply. However, the new head of the hockey association understandably doesn’t mind the laundry.
