HOUSTON, Feb. 16 (Xinhua) — A brawl between two groups of youths sparked a shooting that left one dead and three injured on Wednesday in El Paso, a city in southern Texas. States and close to Mexico, authorities announced on Thursday.
According to Acting El Paso Police Chief Peter Pacillas, the two groups of youths between the ages of 15 and 20 were brawling in the food court of the Cielo Vista mall when one of them pulled out a weapon and opened fire.
This shooting would not however be linked to a gang affair, according to the local newspaper El Paso Times.
The Cielo Vista mall is adjacent to the Walmart supermarket where a man fatally shot 23 people in 2019. He pleaded guilty last week to 90 federal charges, including 23 of hate crimes targeting Latinos that resulted in death. END
