Investing.com – U.S. stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as gains in the , , and sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NYSE, it rose 0.07%, while the index lost 0.01%, and the index lost 0.20%.
The best performers of the session were Walmart Inc (NYSE: ), which rose 1.44% or 2.24 points to trade at 157.93 at the close. Meanwhile, Boeing Co (NYSE: ) added 0.94% or 2.11 points to end at 226.65 and UnitedHealth Group Inc (NYSE: ) was up 0.91% or 4.48 points to 498.44 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Johnson & Johnson (NYSE: ), which fell 0.87% or 1.52 points to trade at 172.49 at the close. Amgen (NASDAQ: ) declined 0.77% or 2.03 points to end at 261.82 and Goldman Sachs Group Inc (NYSE: ) was down 0.79% or 2.59 points to 324.93 at the close.
The top performers on the S&P 500 were Ross Stores Inc (NASDAQ: ), which rose 5.01% to 118.72; Applied Materials Inc (NASDAQ: ), which was up 3.68% at the close at 142.66; Generac Holdings Inc (NYSE: ) rose 2.62% to close at 113.36.
The worst performers were Keysight Technologies Inc (NYSE: ) which was down 13.77% to 129.39 in late trade, Deere Inc (NYSE: ) which was down 5.28% to 397.02 and Moderna Inc (NASDAQ: ) which was down 4.35%, closing at 101.62.
The top performers on the Nasdaq Composite were Neptune Wellness Solutions Inc (NASDAQ: ), which rose 75.56% to settle at 0.24; JetAI Inc (NASDAQ: ), which was up 64.25% to settle at 6.57; EzFill Holdings Inc ( NASDAQ 🙂 rose 44.38% to close at 4.62.
The worst performers were Evelo Biosciences Inc (NASDAQ: ) which was down 43.86% to 6.99 in late trade, Selina Hospitality (NASDAQ: ) which lost 41.23% to settle at 0.43 and Impel Neuropharma Inc (NASDAQ: ) which was down 39.73% , with a closing price of 0.38.
1,682 stocks on the New York Stock Exchange rose, exceeding the number of stocks that closed down—1,201. At the same time, 104 stocks did not rise or fall, basically flat; 1,822 stocks on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange rose, and 1,658 stocks fell. 114 individual stocks were basically unchanged.
Shares in Keysight Technologies Inc (NYSE: ) fell to 1-year lows; down 13.77% or 20.66 to 129.39. Shares in Selina Hospitality (NASDAQ:) fell to all time lows; losing 41.23% or 0.30 to 0.43 at the close. Shares in Impel Neuropharma Inc (NASDAQ: ) fell to all time lows; falling 39.73% or 0.25 to 0.38.
A measure of implied volatility for S&P 500 options fell 3.30% to 17.30.
Gold futures options for December delivery rose 0.13%, or 2.50 points, to $1,917.70. For the rest of the futures, the WTI crude oil futures contract for September delivery rose 1.14% (0.92 points) to $81.31, while the October London Brent crude oil futures contract rose 0.77% (0.65) to trade at $84.77.
EUR/USD did not rise or fall by 0.01%, and the exchange rate was 1.09; at the same time, USD/JPY fell by 0.35%, quoting 145.32.
U.S. dollar index futures were down 0.13% at 103.34.
