Investing.com – U.S. stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the , , and sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NYSE, it gained 1.00% compared with a gain of 1.30% and a gain of 2.19% for the index.

The best performers of the session were Intel Corporation (NASDAQ: ), which rose 5.84% or 1.60 points to trade at 29.00 at the close. Meanwhile, American Express (NYSE:) added 4.08% or 6.16 points to end at 157.24 and Salesforce Inc (NYSE:) was up 2.63% or 5.53 points to 215.44 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Merck & Co (NYSE:), which fell 1.10% or 1.23 points to trade at 111.07 at the close. Travelers (NYSE: ) declined 0.79% or 1.38 points to end at 172.29 and Chevron Corporation (NYSE: ) was down 0.31% or 0.48 points to 154.08 at the close.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were GAP (NYSE: ), which rose 12.40% to 8.34, Broadcom Inc (NASDAQ: ), which was up 11.52% at the close at 812.73 and Arista Networks Inc (NYSE: ), which gained 9.06% , closing at 170.34.

The worst performers were Ulta Beauty Products Inc (NASDAQ: ), which was down 13.37% to 420.27 in late trade; Kroger Co (NYSE: ), which was down 3.25% to 47.31; and Eversource Energy (NYSE: ), which was down 3.06%, closing at 68.69.

The top performers on the Nasdaq Composite were Verastem Inc (NASDAQ: ), which rose 125.55% to settle at 1.01; Elevation Oncology Inc (NASDAQ: ), which was up 66.78% to settle at 5.02; Presto Automation Inc (NASDAQ: ) 🙂 Up 63.93% to close at 3.59.

The worst performers were Canaan Technology (NASDAQ: ) which was down 26.74% to 1.89 in late trade, mCloud Technologies Corp (NASDAQ: ) which was down 24.27% to settle at 0.54 and ROC Energy Acquisition Corp (NASDAQ: ) which was down 22.73%, with a closing price of 8.16.

2,031 stocks on the New York Stock Exchange rose, surpassing the number of stocks that closed down—937. At the same time, 97 stocks did not rise or fall, basically flat; 2,250 stocks on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange rose, and 1,320 stocks fell. 174 individual stocks were largely unchanged.

Shares in Broadcom Corporation (NASDAQ: ) rose to all time highs; up 11.52% or 83.93 to 812.73. Arista Networks Shares in Inc (NYSE:) rose to all time highs; up 9.06% or 14.15 to 170.34 at the close. Shares in Eversource Energy (NYSE: ) fell to 3-year lows; down 3.06% or 2.17 to 68.69. Shares in Salesforce Inc (NYSE:) rose to 1-year highs; up 2.63% or 5.53 to 215.44. Shares in Canaan Technology (NASDAQ: ) fell to 1-year lows; falling 26.74% or 0.69 to 1.89. ROC Energy Acquisition Shares in Corp (NASDAQ:) fell to all time lows; losing 22.73% or 2.40 to 8.16 at the close.

A measure of implied volatility for S&P 500 options fell 6.22 percent to 17.95.

Gold futures options for June delivery rose 0.15%, or 3.00 points, to $1,946.70. For the rest of the futures, the July delivery WTI crude oil futures contract rose 1.35% (0.97 points), quoted at $72.80, while the July London Brent crude oil futures contract rose 1.02% (0.78), trading at $77.04.

EUR/USD did not rise or fall by 0.02%, and the exchange rate was 1.07; at the same time, USD/JPY rose by 0.38%, quoting 140.59.

U.S. dollar index futures fell 0.04% to 104.13.
