U.S. initial unemployment insurance claims up 21,000 from last week to 211,000 – forecast 195,000

U.S. unemployment claims last week surpassed market expectations and hit the highest level since December last year. The labor market remains tight, but hinted at some softening.

The four-week moving average of flat unemployment claims rose to 197,000.
