U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Honors Grant Recipients and Exchange Program Participants

The Chargé d’affaires of the United States Amy J. Hyatt organized a ceremony on October 4, 2021 in honor of Comorian citizens who participated in American exchange programs and who recently received grants from the Embassy of United States to help them meet the challenges in their communities. Since 2020, the US government has awarded Comorian citizens and organizations more than $ 85,000 in grants.

“These grants and programs, as well as our collaboration with the government of the Comoros in several areas, represent the continued commitment of the United States government to strengthen cooperation and bilateral relations between our two countries and to advance our common goal of a future. more prosperous for all Comorians, ”said Chargé Hyatt during the October 4 event at Golden Tulip.

Program grant recipients 2020 Ambassador’s Special Self-Help are the Association Actions Positives Comores (A2PC), the Association of Youth for Sustainable Development of Bangoi-kouni (AJ2D BK) and the Association for the Development of Vouvouni (ACDV). The Twamaya Cooperative, the Cooperative des Pêcheurs et Vendeuses de Poisson de Ntsaoueni, the Steering Committee of Bandamadji and the Lemba Association are the recipients of the grants of the program. 2021 Ambassador’s Special Self-Help Program. Ahmed Bacar won the competition Public Diplomacy Small Grants Competition for this year 2021.

The Hyatt Manager also recognized Salim Youssouf, Aincha Aboubakar Oumadi, Ali Abderemane Chamsoudine, Siddi Abdallah Mohemed, Fatima Bacar and Ibrahim Said for their participation in American exchanges, in particular the program YALI Mandela Washington, the program Study of the U.S. Institutes (SUSI), l ‘International Visitor Leadership Program, the program Fulbright and the African Women’s Entrepreneurship Program.

The Chargé Hyatt also recognized the work of the Comorian Association for Childhood and Community Development (CEDAC) for the success of its program funded by the United States Embassy to the tune of 100,000 dollars and which brought together civil society leaders and representatives of local governments from the three islands to discuss ways to improve local governance and increase democratic dialogue.

These projects, whatever their dimensions, illustrate the commitment of the American people and the American government to strengthen its relations with the Comoros and to help the Comorian people to build a strong, prosperous and democratic Comoros.
