timetable Indonesian National Team U-23 against Australia on 2022 Asian U-23 Cup Qualification experiencing changes. The two teams will meet twice on October 26 and 29.
Previously, the two teams were scheduled to face off on October 27 and 30. That means, the AFC advances 1 day for each match in the two-legged format.
Both PSSI and the Australian Football Federation (FFA) have confirmed this news. The two will still face off in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, which is the host of Group G.
“Australia U-23 will face Indonesia in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, and Friday October 29, 2021, with both matches kicking off at 17.00, local time,” said the official website of the Australian national team, Socceroos.
“The test against Nepal is the last test before facing Australia in the AFC U-23 Cup Qualification event which will take place on 26 and 29 October,” wrote PSSI who reported the same thing.
Indonesian National Team U-23 initially will also face China and Brunei in the qualifiers. However, both countries announced their withdrawal due to the COVID-19 situation.
The AFC finally decided the U-23 and Australia national teams to face each other twice. When there were still four teams, each team originally played three matches against each other once.
Before China and Brunei withdrew, U-23 National Team can also aim for the runner-up position to qualify for the main round. Now Garuda Muda must win the group or win points over Australia if they want to qualify.
Because the runner-up ticket quota for Group G has been abolished by the AFC. Understandably, now Group G only contains two teams, namely Indonesia and Australia.
“The winners of the next two matches will advance to the 2022 U-23 Asian Cup, which will be held in Uzbekistan on 1-19 June 2022,” wrote the Socceroos.
