U-23 National Team Only Has 15 Players When Meet Malaysia

Jakarta

Indonesian National Team U-23 maybe only have 15 players against Malaysia. Because Egy Maulana Vikri is injured, plus three players are absent due to red cards.

Therefore, Team U-23 only have four reserve players when they meet Malaysia in the bronze medal match SEA Games 2021, Sunday (22/5/2022). Because the U-23 national team only brought 20 players to Vietnam, with one player, namely Elkan Baggott, not fulfilling the call.

The three players who are confirmed to be absent due to a red card are Firza Andika, Rachmat Irianto, and Ricky Kambuaya. The match for the third place will be held at My Dinh Stadium, Hanoi, at 16.00 WIB.

“We are preparing well for the match against Malaysia later. Although three players are suspended from a red card and Egy is also injured. We believe the players will fight hard to win the bronze medal,” said Shin Tae-yong, quoted from the PSSI page.

“This condition makes it difficult for us to determine players in the match. However, there is a good process and the will of the Indonesian U-23 national team players is very strong. So, of course we can pass this difficult situation well,” he said.

This condition is clearly not ideal for Indonesia who wants to win a bronze medal. Moreover, Malaysia is also not an opponent to be taken lightly.

Even though he failed to win a gold medal, at least a bronze medal could make Indonesia not fail badly when he returned to his homeland.

“Indeed, situations like this affect the team a lot. Moreover, at the beginning of the tournament, the quota of 20 players was not filled. Indonesia U-23 only had 18 players after Baggott was not present, Saddil and Asnawi Mangkualam followed to face the 2021 SEA Games,” said Shin Tae -yong.

“We have to focus on Malaysia even though the team’s condition is not complete. We want to go home with a bronze medal. I am confident and determined to work hard in tomorrow’s match,” said Saddil Ramdani.
