U-23 Indonesian National Team managed to take over the top of Group K standings 2024 U-23 Asian Cup Qualification. This result was obtained after Garuda Muda successfully beat Taiwan 9-0.
Shin Tae Yong’s squad performed brilliantly when facing Taiwan at the Manahan Stadium, Solo, Saturday (9/9). The fast and aggressive game played by Indonesia succeeded in leaving Taiwan battered.
Indonesia U-23 took a 5-0 lead in the first half through goals from Marselino Ferdinan (3′), Ramadhan Sananta (6′), Rafael Struick (19′), Witan Sulaeman (30′), and Rio Fahmi (40′).
Even though they were 5-0 up in the first half, the U-23 Indonesian National Team continued to put pressure on Taiwan at the start of the second half. A total of four additional goals were scored by Indonesia.
Indonesia’s additional goals in the second half were scored by Elkan Baggott, Marselino Ferdinan, Hokky Caraka and Pratama Arhan respectively.
Rafael Struick actually had a chance to score a brace through the penalty spot in the 89th minute. Unfortunately, his shot was still blocked by goalkeeper Chang Hsiang Chun.
The fantastic victory over Taiwan made Indonesia successful in taking over the top of the standings from Turkemenistan. The Red and White Team is ahead by five goals even though they both have three points.
Previously, Turkmenistan also won their first match over Taiwan. Turkmenistan managed to win convincingly with a score of 4-0.
Next, Indonesia will face Turkmenistan in the final match, Tuesday (12/9). This duel will determine the winner of Group K.
The winning team will finish as winners of Group K and automatically qualify for the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup finals. Apart from that, Shin Tae Yong’s squad also has the chance to qualify for the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
