The U-20 team tied against Guyana 2-2 on the second date of the CONCACAF qualifier heading to the World Cup. The team will face Suriname on Thursday, February 29, in its third match.
Juan Cortés’ team started losing about 10 minutes into the match, with Guyana’s goal, but at 22 minutes, Kiano Casamalhuapa appeared to give the national team a one-to-one tie and thus ended the first half with the partial equality of both teams.
Upon returning from halftime, the blue and white team was left without one less on the field after the expulsion of Daniel España when he saw a direct red card, but, despite the expulsion, the team increased its intensity and at 62′, Wilber Díaz sent the two to one in favor of the blue one. However, after the penalty awarded to Guyana in the 82nd minute, the rival team tied the match from 11 meters to end in a 2X2 draw.
In the debut match in the qualifying round, the national team defeated Turks and Caicos Islands 7-0, with goals from Christopher Argueta, Daniel España, Walter Menjívar, Wilber Díaz with a double, Darwin López and Nelson Díaz.
