U-20 Asian Cup Qualifier Top Standing: Second Vietnam

Hot competition colored the second place 2025 U-20 Asian Cup Qualifier. Vietnam is able to take the second place and is on the list of main competitors.

The preparation round for the 2025 U-20 Asian Cup has gone through two matches. A total of seven teams competed strongly as they both scored six points.

Iraq lead the top position for a while as they have an impressive goal difference. Iraq have scored 17 goals against opposition without conceding in two games.

In the first match, Iraq came out on top when they beat Brunei 15-0. Iraq continued their winning streak by beating the Philippines 2-0.

However, Iraq is still not as productive as Thailand, who are at the top of Group H. The Young War Elephant Team is still one goal ahead of Iraq.

What happened to Vietnam is almost the same as Iraq. Vietnam are also in second place and only lost on goal difference to the top team in Group A, Syria.

The difference is that Vietnam competes with four other teams in Group A, while there are three other teams in Group H along with Iraq. Therefore, Vietnam still counts with six points even though they have won three consecutive victories.

In addition to Iraq and Vietnam, there are Yemen, Qatar, Australia and Kyrgyzstan, and Cambodia which has also collected six points. All these teams have the same chance to qualify for the best runner-up route.

The five best second place teams are entitled to qualify for the final along with the 10 winning teams. Meanwhile, one place in the final round will definitely belong to the hosts China.

Meanwhile, Indonesia now top Group F with six points or better goal difference over Yemen. The status of the group winners will be determined when the two teams face off at the Madya Stadium, Jakarta, on Sunday (29/9).
