Jakarta, CNNIndonesia —
Kiper U-19 Indonesian Women’s National Team Fani was seen crying hysterically after receiving a red card in the semifinal match AFF Women’s U-19 Cup 2023.
The U-19 Indonesian Women’s National Team had to play with 10 men when the match had only been running for four minutes after Fani received a red card from referee Le Thi Ly from Vietnam.
Fani took the initiative out of the penalty box and tried to prevent the movement of Thai striker Thawanrat Promthongmee who escaped the offside trap.
Thawanrat ran fast enough to maximize the breakthrough bait from the midfield. After the Indonesian outfield players were left behind, Fani stepped forward to block Thawanrat.
Fani’s attempt makes Thawanrat fall. The referee blew the whistle, but did not immediately issue a card. As soon as the referee showed a red card, Fani protested.
The referee remained firm. Fani could only protest and was seen crying. Fani’s colleagues also tried to calm Fani who was trying to approach the referee.
After being on the sidelines, Fani also tried to be calmed down by goalkeeping coach Kurnia Sandy.
Coach Rudy Eka Priyambada made a substitution. Mayzura Alifa Yusuf was replaced by reserve goalkeeper Shesilia Putri Desrina.
Until the 20th minute, the U-19 Indonesian Women’s National Team was trailing 0-1.
