The 7-day incidence for Tyrol on Thursday is 55.7. The Imst district, however, has the highest 7-day incidence in Austria at 157.1. The municipality of Umhausen is particularly affected. An exit test has been mandatory there for two weeks. Since Thursday evening, however, almost a third of those infected have been considered recovered.
The compulsory exit test for Umhausen should end on Sunday. Since May 14th, 1,000 CoV tests have been carried out daily in the Ötztal community, said the mayor of Umhausen, Jakob Wolf (ÖVP) on Thursday. That is a considerable number in view of the 3,300 inhabitants in the Ötztal municipality – more on this in the compulsory departure test for Umhausen.
Wolf: “Openings may be unfavorable”
On Thursday morning, 32 people were registered as coronavirus-positive in Umhausen. On Thursday evening, when more CoV numbers were incorporated into the Tyrol dashboard, it was only 23. Nine people were recorded as recovered. Two weeks ago there were around 50 positively infected people in Umhausen. The numbers in Umhausen did not fall as quickly as hoped. Mayor Wolf said in the morning: “There are always positive test results. This goes through all districts and also through all population groups. There are no clusters to narrow down. I am also not aware of any illegal corona parties or large family celebrations. I don’t know where people get infected. But it could be that the openings were possibly rather unfavorable for us. “
Decision on Friday
On Friday, the district administration wants to decide whether the compulsory sufficiency test for Umhausen will be extended or not.
In other places in the Imst district, the number of active positives is limited or is falling. In Roppen there were 15 proven coronavirus cases on Thursday evening, 22 in Imst, seven in Längenfeld, six in St. Leonhard and four in Ötz.
Coronavirus continues to retreat
In the course of the last week, SARS-CoV-2 wastewater monitoring has shown a decrease in pollution across Tyrol by around 30 percent, the country said in a broadcast on Thursday. The lowest load data have been achieved since autumn 2020. This development is also noticeable in the Tyrolean hospitals. 21 people, two fewer than the day before, were treated in the intensive care units on Thursday. A total of 40 people are currently in hospitals, also two fewer than on Wednesday.
The excess mortality due to the coronavirus pandemic is clear, however. As Statistics Austria announced on Thursday, 8.8 percent more Tyroleans died in 2020 than in 2019.
