Tyrannosaurus Rex Turns Out To Have A Soft Side, Research Reveals This Fact : Okezone Travel

A research shows unique facts about Tyrannosaurus rex aka T-rex. Yes, T-rex has been known to have a reputation as a voracious reptile animal. Not only emotional, these ancient animals often eat any meat that is seen in front of them.

But in fact, according to recent research, T-rex actually has a soft character and is a little selective in choosing food.

Paleontologists at the Fukui Prefectural University Dinosaur Research Institute revealed that CT scans of the dinosaur’s mandibles showed that T-rex actually had rather broad and sensitive nerve endings in its mouth.

That means the T-rex takes its food very carefully. Soichiro Kawabe, one of the authors of the paper said that the T-rex has a ‘soft side’ like other animals and insists that it is not a ‘monster’.

“You could say it’s a foodie,” said Kawabe, as reported Indy100.

He believed that the T-rex probably held its prey with its legs because its arms were too small. It will pull juicy, nutritious meat from the bones like a chicken leg as humans do.

“But when needed, it might as well eat the bones too. Marrow is very healthy,” he continued.

University of Edinburgh paleontologist Steve Brusatte says that the T-rex has not only power, it has skill.

“As if the T-rex wasn’t scary enough, with a bus-sized body and a bite that could crush a car, it turns out that its jaws are so sensitive it can carefully select and manipulate its prey,” said Steve.

Kawabe again argued that the T-rex actually had a sensitive snout and perfect control over its jaw and nose. These conditions help his ability to become a parent and build a nest.

“Dinosaurs could also carry their young in their mouths with care,” concludes Kawabe.
