Typhoon Bolaven turned into an extratropical cyclone far east of Japan at 9pm on Saturday, October 14th.

Typhoon No. 15 formed near the Truk Islands at 3:00 pm on Saturday, October 7th, and continued to intensify as it moved northward. On the 12th (Thursday), the typhoon intensified into a large and ferocious force. The central pressure dropped to 900 hPa, and the storm continued to engulf the Ogasawara Islands in a region of strong winds. It was the first time in five years that the central pressure of a typhoon dropped to 900 hPa in October, since Typhoon No. 26 in 2018.

The typhoon then changed course to the northeast and continued to pick up speed, turning into an extratropical cyclone far east of Japan at 9pm on Saturday, October 14th.
