Typhoon No. 14 formed in the east of the Philippines at 3 a.m. on Saturday, September 30th. It gradually strengthened as it moved northward, becoming a large and extremely strong force at midnight on Tuesday, October 3, moving westward while engulfing the Sakishima Islands in Okinawa Prefecture in an area of strong winds. It then proceeded to the vicinity of Taiwan at 9 a.m. on the 5th (Thursday), moved westward through the Taiwan Strait after noon, and proceeded to the South China Sea on the 6th (Friday).
