Typhoon No. 13 is likely to affect today’s 7th, mainly in eastern Japan. Heavy rain will fall locally, and there is a risk that a linear rain belt will occur in the Izu Islands. Be on the lookout for landslides, flooding of low-lying land, rising rivers and flooding.

Typhoon No. 13 moves south of Japan to the northeast

The autumn rain front, which brought heavy rain yesterday on the 6th, will move south to the Kanto region on the morning of the 7th. On the other hand, Typhoon No. 13 is in the south of Japan as of 3:00 am on the 7th and is moving north-northeast at a speed of 25 kilometers per hour. Typhoon No. 13 will move northeast and will move off Tokaido tomorrow on the 8th.

On the 7th, warm and moist air will flow in from the area around the typhoon, so the atmospheric conditions will be extremely unstable, especially in the Tokai and Kanto regions.

Tokai and Kanto Rain clouds tend to develop

Today, the 7th is expected to be sunny over a wide area from Okinawa, Kyushu to Kinki. There will be some showers, but most will be along the mountains.

The weather in Tokai is changeable, although there are some sunny days. In the afternoon, rain clouds will appear along the mountains and inland areas, and thunderstorms and heavy rain will occur in some places.

In Kanto-Koshin, although there is time for the sun to shine, cloudy weather is likely to continue. The rain due to the front will stop in the morning, but rain clouds will come again in the afternoon along the mountains. The Izu Islands are likely to experience intermittent rain. A linear rain belt will form in the morning of the 8th, and the risk of heavy rain disasters may increase sharply.

In Hokuriku, it will rain in Niigata Prefecture until morning, but it will be sunny throughout the day. Tohoku and Hokkaido are likely to have many clear sunny days.

Expected precipitation

[24-hour rainfall (lots of rainfall)]
Until 6:00 a.m. on the 8th
Izu Islands 250mm
Tokai 150mm
Kanto Koshin 100mm

Until 6:00 a.m. on the 9th
Kanto Koshin/Tokai 100 to 200 mm
Izu Islands 100 to 150 mm

If a linear rain belt occurs, there is a possibility that the amount of rain will increase locally. Pay close attention to landslides, flooding of low-lying land, rising rivers, and severe gusts of wind such as lightning strikes and tornadoes. In the Izu Islands, strict vigilance is required against landslide disasters, flooding of low-lying land, and swelling and flooding of rivers. Also, be careful of high waves accompanied by swells.
