Typhoon Haikui Causes Damage and Rescues Needed as Fire Truck Crashes into River in China

As typhoon No. 11 ‘Haikui’ hits the eastern coast of China, damage continues.

A fire truck crashed into a river in Fuzhou, Fujian Province, China early this morning, Chinese newspapers reported. Eight people were on board at the time of the accident, three were rescued but five are still missing.

On Chinese social media (SNS), videos and photos of several vehicles parked on the road submerged in water were also uploaded.

In Fuzhou City, heavy rain of more than 300mm fell from 6:00 yesterday morning to 6:00 this morning due to the influence of the typhoon.

Fuzhou meteorological authorities issued a heavy rain red warning, and education authorities temporarily closed kindergartens and elementary, middle, and high schools for a day.
